Now available on vinyl for the first time as part of a four LP boxset entitled Slowly Arranged: 2016-2019, or as a single LP. Out August 19th 2022
'Near Future Residence' is music for an imagined place based on real ideas; the soundtrack for an ecologically sustainable housing development somewhere in a not-too-distant future Britain.
The 11 instrumental pieces here come from a place of optimism, imagining a future that is based on co-operation, community and ecological urbanism. It's music intended to sit in this imagined environment rather than impose upon it.
These pieces were composed in entirely generative ways using samples of instruments, synthesisers and field recordings I've collected and developed throughout 2018. In generative composition, rules are set and parameters are chosen and then set into motion; the results constantly changing and surprising. I've recently been broadcasting these creations via my internet radio station 'New Infinite Works' in which I create new generative pieces intended to play out for a long time for anyone interested in listening. These are excerpts of those processes.
'Near Future Residence' acts somewhat as a companion piece to my new album of songs which will be released in 2019. I’ve released this now as a way of collating these instrumental pieces, and I was keen for people to listen to it over that week or two at Christmas and New Year where time seems to slow down.
Thank you so much for your support this year. Next year is going to be a very busy one indeed, but I’m looking forward to it.

I started with Ants From Up There, came back to this one and it is mind-blowing what this group is capable of. Such a shame Isaac is no longer a part of the band but he had his reasons. Such an exciting band to explore and follow. smeef
